Beducated survey reveals 60% are unsatisfied with their sex lives

A recent poll by online sex-ed brand Beducated has revealed that 60% of men and women are unsatisfied with their sex lives. Reasons given include a lack of communication between partners, insufficient knowledge about sexual health and pleasure, and prevailing myths and misconceptions surrounding sexuality.

“Sixty percent saying they aren’t satisfied with their sex lives means there must be a lot of bad sex out there,” commented Mariah Freya, co-founder of Beducated. “That’s a shame, because, according to the World Health Organization, positive and pleasurable experiences go hand-in-hand with sexual health. And sexual health is an integral part of our overall wellbeing – you can’t have one without the other.”

Freya also noted that the majority of Beducated.com members actively using the site’s educational courses and services – 57% – reported being ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’ with their sex lives. “That’s not surprising… there’s a misconception that people only need sex education as teenagers, and even that starts with contraception and ends with STDs. Being sexually educated also means knowing your needs, exploring your sexuality and, most importantly, putting pleasure front and centre. That’s precisely what Beducated does.”

Other key takeaways from the poll of 1,185 people include:

Most people have sex at least once per month, and 42% have sex every week.

There’s a significant lack of communication in the bedroom, with 95% saying they wish they or their partner would open up more.

1 in 4 couples struggle with mismatched libidos.

66% of women rated their libido as low or very low — twice as many as men.

Stress is taking a toll on intimacy, with 61% of respondents saying it has had a direct effect in the bedroom.
