The cost of applying for a sex shop licence in Glasgow, Scotland, has plummeted following a recent review by the local authority. The price of applying was set at £10,000 in 2000 and had risen during the intervening years to £15,373, while a licence for a sexual entertainment venue is, in comparison, just £1,882 per year.
Glasgow Live has now reported that the council’s licensing committee has agreed that the annual cost of a sex shop licence should be £1,882, the same as a sexual entertainment venue – a drop of £13,491.
The review of the process was “long overdue” according to councillor Alex Wilson, SNP, who chairs the licensing committee.
