Scarlet changes hands again

Scarlet Magazine has changed hands for the second time in a year. Its new owner is Interactive Publishing, which has acquired the magazine and its website through a newly created wholly-owned subsidiary, Scarlet Publishing Limited.

Scarlet – which styles itself as ‘the UK’s hottest women’s magazine’ – was sold by its original publisher, Helix Media, to Blaze Publishing in May 2008.

Justin Sanders, CEO of Interactive Publishing, commented: “The continued uncertainty within the economy has created opportunities for Interactive Publishing to acquire quality magazines such as Scarlet that will further enhance our portfolio.

Scarlet has long been admired by Interactive Publishing and we are delighted that we have had the opportunity to acquire it. Interactive Publishing will continue to identify magazines that perform well within our market sectors and which can benefit from being part of our enlarged portfolio.”

Interactive Publishing was formed in October 2007 and became listed on the PLUS-quoted Market in February 2008 following its acquisition of Trojan Publishing. Its other consumer magazines include Desire, which it purchased in late 2007, and gay lifestyle title Attitude, which it bought in April 2008.
