Seems Shakespeare was right: music is indeed the food of love

With the festival season in full swing, a new Lovehoney survey has revealed that nearly a quarter (23%) of music festival attendees have had sex at Lollapalooza, which was launched in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell and is now staged in a number of countries around the world and broadcast live on Red Bull TV.

Lovehoney’s poll of 1,100 US consumers asked respondents about their sexual activities during music festivals and found that out of all the 2017 Lollapalooza acts, 10% of respondents want to have sex to Blink 182, followed by Lorde (8%), Muse (6.3%), The Killers (6.3%) and Tove Lo (4%).

Of those who have sex at festivals, 40% had tent sex with their current partner and more than a quarter of people were caught up in the atmosphere and had sex with someone they met at the festival; what’s more, almost 10% of people began relationships with people they had met at a festival.

In terms of key locations on festival grounds, 28% had sex in a camping tent, 15% in their cars, 13% while in the crowd, 12.5% in a quiet spot in a field, and 6% in an RV. One third (33%) of those polled have not had sex at a music festival but would like to.

Sabrina Earnshaw, Lovehoney trade sales manager, commented: “Music festivals bring together thousands of people to enjoy great music in an amazing atmosphere. Without a doubt, great sex and great music go hand-in-hand. Festival season is upon us and we are currently receiving lots of enquiries into our ranges of official pleasure collections with both Mötley Crüe and Motörhead. Rock on!”

After Lollapalooza, the next most popular festivals to have sex at were Coachella (14.3%), Austin City Limits (10%), Burning Man (9%), and SXSW (7.5%). For more information on Lovehoney products visit www.lovehoneytrade.com
