Xcite crowned Specialist Publisher of the Year

Xcite Books has added another award to its growing list of achievements after winning Specialist Publisher of the Year at the Independent Publisher’s Guild Annual Awards. Beating high profile rivals Osprey Group, Quiller Publishing and Witherby Publishing Group, to the title of Specialist Consumer Publisher of the Year, judges were impressed by Xcite’s ‘disciplined publishing and imaginative marketing.’

The judges said: “2012 was the year that vindicated Xcite Books’ niche in a highly competitive market and highlighted it as a rising star, delivering disciplined publishing and imaginative marketing. They got into erotic fiction long before Fifty Shades of Grey and while everyone else was pulling out. Now lightning has struck the market and Xcite is well positioned to take advantage.”

Managing Director Hazel Cushion [pictured] was presented with the award at the prestigious ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Oxfordshire, on March 7th. She commented: “To be recognised among such highly regarded businesses within the independent publishing industry for our achievements is fantastic. 2012 was a successful year for Xcite Books and 2013 will see the company grow. We have expanded our team, moved to new offices and are in a strong position to grow our list of print, ebooks and audio books.”

Other winners at the IPG Awards included Bloomsbury, Constable & Robinson and Faber Factory.
