Women report higher solo satisfaction in new findings

New survey findings from Adam & Eve suggest female consumers may be driving continued growth in the solo pleasure category, as women reported higher levels of orgasm satisfaction from masturbation than male respondents.

According to the web-based survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults, 25% of women said orgasms achieved through masturbation were more intense than those experienced with a partner, compared to 12% of men.

The findings reinforce the continued importance of solo pleasure products within the sexual wellness market, particularly for retailers and wholesalers catering to female consumers. As wellness-focused intimacy products continue moving into mainstream retail, industry demand for premium vibrators, suction toys, body-safe materials and self-care-oriented pleasure products remains strong.

It was also found that consumers increasingly view solo intimacy as part of broader wellness and self-care routines rather than a niche category. “May is International Masturbation Month,” said Dr. Jenni Skyler, Adam & Eve’s resident sexologist.“So it’s the perfect time to talk about self-love. People seek solo satisfaction for many reasons. Some participate to relax, de-stress, or help fall asleep. Others enjoy exploring their own bodies to see what works for them, so they can communicate that to their partners.”
