Swiss retailer Amorana has introduced a company-wide ‘masturbation day’, an additional day off for employees to focus on self-love and mental health. The firm, which is part of Lovehoney Group, chose Friday 12th May to introduce the initiative, as part of Masturbation May.
“As a progressive employer we are aware that in today’s complex world, the topics of work-life balance and mental health must have a high priority, especially in the workplace,” said Amorana head of marketing, Isabelle Schmid. “Amorana is actively committed to this mission. With the additional day off work to celebrate Masturbation May, Amorana is setting an example to raise awareness that prioritising mental and physical well-being must also be addressed in the professional work environment. Self-love and self-care come in different forms, and masturbation is just one of them. Of course, it is up to each and every employee to decide which kind of self-love to choose.”
The extra day off did not affect customers. Volunteers from the management team worked in the warehouse to ensure orders were packed and shipped as planned.
