Uncover Creations has launched Design a Grinder II, the second instalment of its community-led product design competition. Entries are open now, with a grand prize of US$1,000 and full production of the winning design.
The UK-based fantasy adult toy manufacturer asks entrants to submit an original grinder concept, then the Uncover Creations community votes on their favourites, and the winning design goes into production – and into bedrooms worldwide. Selected runners-up will receive US$500 plus a customised toy of their choice.
The first Design a Grinder competition produced three winning designs following a public vote so close that the company scrapped the idea of a single winner and announced two community picks and one team pick on the same day. The resulting products – The Maw, The Venus, and The Petal (pictured) – went from submitted sketches to manufactured products now sold globally.
“We genuinely didn’t know what to expect the first time around,” said Luke, Uncover Creations’ co-founder. “What we got was some of the most creative, considered product design we’d seen. Our community took it seriously and the results speak for themselves. We’re doing it again because it works, and honestly because we love to see what people can come up with.”
Entries are open now. The deadline for submissions is 09.00 GMT on 20 March. Three finalists will be selected and put to a public vote, with the winner announced by 30 April. Multiple entries per person are allowed
