Retailers, wholesalers and distributors moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland have less than a month to prepare for a change to the Trader Support Service (TSS).
A new TSS platform, operated by Netcompany, goes live on 20 October, with all goods movements taking place from that date needing to be submitted through the new system. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) estimates that updating a profile should take around 5-30 minutes, depending on the business and information available.
“We’re working with businesses to make the move to the new Trader Support Service as straightforward as possible,” says Gill Evans, HMRC’s Director of Customs Services and Operations. “Businesses should look out for their invitation email and pre-enrol to ensure they can continue submitting declarations as normal. Users will also be able to access a test environment to familiarise themselves with the new platform before the switch.”
The move doesn’t change customs processes or businesses’ legal and regulatory obligations. Instead, HMRC says the GOV.UK-hosted platform will provide improved functionality and enhanced support.
HMRC is urging users to complete their pre-enrolment before the site launches to help ensure they can continue submitting declarations and moving goods as normal.
