Taboo and Lust to star in Channel 4’s A Very British Sex Shop

The team behind Brighton adult stores Taboo and Lust will be featured in a new documentary called A Very British Sex Shop, which is scheduled for broadcast on Channel 4 at 10pm on Monday 27th May. Produced by Crackit Productions, the documentary will take viewers behind the scenes of the business, which has been run by Tim Richardson for over two decades, and will explore the family dynamics: Tim’s current wife Calandra works alongside ex-wife Nancy, who’s also mother to Tim’s two children – Kizzy and Taz, who Tim hopes will one day take over the business.

Lee McMurray, commissioning editor for factual entertainment at Channel 4, said: “The beating heart of this entertaining comedy-doc will be the larger-than-life Richardsons, but their unique family business will also afford Channel 4 viewers a fascinating insight into the bedroom habits of modern Britain.”

Elaine Hackett, creative director at Crackit Productions, added: “Crackit loves to find and deliver rare access that offers humour alongside little known revelations. That’s exactly what this eye-opening film does, going behind the often-intimidating show window of the sex shop. The Richardsons, their team and their customers are funny, warm and honest, offering us a view into a world that many of us are intrigued by, but very rarely see.”
