Sexpo is coming to the UK

The UK is to get a new adult consumer show next year. Sexpo, the world’s largest sexual health and lifestyle expo, will be staged at London’s Olympia from 13th – 15th November 2015. The venue and time of year will be very familiar to potential visitors of course, as this is where and when Erotica has been traditionally held.

Sexpo, which is staged four times a year in Australia and annually in South Africa, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2015, and it claims to have welcomed over 2.5 million visitors through its doors over the years. The average visitor attendance figure is 40,000 per event.

“Sexpo plays an important role in encouraging people to openly talk about sex, explore health and lifestyle issues and be more comfortable about their sexuality,” said Sexpo founder David Ross. “Both visitors and exhibitors at Sexpo have benefitted considerably in Australia and South Africa and we are very excited to be bringing this winning formula to England.”

Ross added that the Sexpo experience includes rock concert-style sound, lighting and entertainment, combining entertainment, titillation, and education, but cultural differences are also taken into consideration between territories: “The Australian events are all very similar but the South Africa event certainly has its own flavour to satisfy the local market,” he said. “The one thing that remains constant is the fact that Sexpo is an ‘adult lifestyle’ event and is not a ‘blokey’ porn convention. The event appeals equally to gay, straight, single or partnered people of all ages. We say that the subject matter has universal appeal.”

The company behind Sexpo UK is Carnal Creative, the adult agency and events firm set up by Lee Schofield which also includes two other familiar names, Jonathan Kirk and Nina Saini, among its personnel. Lee has been ETO’s publisher since the magazine was launched and Jonathan has organised the ETO Show since 2005 – though ETO itself has no connection with Carnal Creative and nor will ETO be involved in the organisation of Sexpo UK.

“We are honoured to be entrusted with the Sexpo brand and to join the Sexpo family,” said Jonathan Kirk. “We are excited to bring the show to the UK and there will be no better place for businesses to connect with a targeted group of UK adults, all decision makers with high disposable income. We have many exciting things in the pipeline for Sexpo UK, all to be announced in due course. Watch this space!”

Lee Schofield added: “Since we came into this industry it’s been crying out for a good consumer show that’s well marketed, forward thinking and which brings the products closer to the end users, and that’s what we’re going to deliver.”
