Alterego Lingerie is expecting increased demand for larger sized lingerie this year and has appealed to its suppliers to respond by creating additional lines to maximise the opportunity this demand presents.
“We are getting more and more demand for larger sizes, so we have to in turn put pressure onto the manufacturers,” said Alterego operations director Gareth Laycock. “We are expecting a number of new plus-size designs to arrive. Shirley of Hollywood and YesX in particular have really gone for it, with YesX [pictured] now going up to 5XL sizes, and they are very pretty designs too.”
Laycock added that the demand for plus-sizes is not restricted to lingerie, and it is stocking larger sized stockings, tights, and hold-ups from Ballerina, its main hosiery brand.
“We’re now looking forward to a bumper Valentine’s,” added Laycock. “The warehouse is in a good position to react to the predicted spike in order volumes and we have had a fair number of new designs taken into stock recently.”
