Paul Boote is Iron Man!

Planet Earth CEO Paul Boote last month successfully completed Florida’s Iron Man distance event, raising a total of £1,287 for The Prostate Cancer Charity. The Iron Man event is a triathlon that consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and then a 26.2 mile run.

Paul was able to complete his challenge in 12 hours 22 minutes and 41 seconds, an impressive 82 minutes quicker than his one and only previous Iron Man distance event, which took place in Roth, Germany last year. He commented: “I am over the moon with this year’s result and I’m pleased to have raised so much money for the Prostate Cancer Charity. My target was to raise £2,000 for the charity, which I will do as I have pledged to make up the difference, but for anyone who hasn’t sponsored me to date I would really appreciate your support.”

Despite suffering several injuries in preparation for the Florida’s Iron Man event, Paul is determined to continue supporting The Prostate Cancer Charity: “When I became involved with The Prostate Cancer Charity, I made a commitment as founder member to do my very best for them. I feel the only way to do that is that is to do something over and above the normal.”

Paul’s next target is to complete Iron Man distance events in Copenhagen on the 12th August next year, followed by an Iron Man distance challenge in France the following week.

“Bear in mind that prior to Roth last year I had never even completed a triathlon,” said Paul. “I have always felt that in life you ‘need to reach for the stars’ – if you don’t quite make it, at least you have tried. I shall continue to do so and if I can help others along the way, then that is the most fulfilling feeling of all.”
