Pabo opened what it describes as Europe’s largest adult department store in Roeselare, Belgium, on October 24th. Pabo, which is part of the Beate Uhse group and is perhaps best known for its giant mail order catalogues, has been trading in Belgium for 20 years and it is planning to revamp its other stores following a shift in buying patterns.
In recent years the company’s female customer base has been responsible for more and more of its turnover – up from 20% to 70% – so nine other Belgian Pabo stores will be converted to the female-friendly format which features a new look in style, design, layout, product range and logos. Other countries are expected to follow in due course though there are no plans to move into the UK.
