Net 1on1 boosts its green credentials with vegan-friendly Glyde

Net 1on1 has added vegan-friendly condoms and dental dams from Glyde to its catalogue in order to cater to the growing community of consumers who follow a vegan lifestyle. With roughly half a million people following a vegan diet in the UK according to the Vegan Society, and numbers increasing year on year, the UK’s plant-based market is only expected to increase.
Veganism is more than just not eating animals though: it is a philosophical stance that rejects the use of animal products completely, including in sex toys and other adult essentials. Net 1on1 says that most condoms are not vegan-friendly due to the use of casein – a protein commonly found in mammalian milk – to make the rubber smooth and fine. Glyde condoms substitute the casein with a thistle extract that ensures that the entire manufacturing process is plant based and truly vegan-friendly.
“Veganism is becoming increasingly popular with more and more shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets offering vegan alternatives to staple products,” said Net 1on1 sales manager Sebastian Gonzalez. “So why should the adult industry be any different? Catering to those who follow a vegan lifestyle is about seeking out brands and companies that care about the environment, the ethical treatment of animals and climate change and making sure that these products are not just high quality but kept to an exceptionally high standard too. Glyde fits this bill perfectly – it is the only condom brand on the European market that has managed to get the Vegan Flower sign meaning that its products are certified vegan.”
Net 1on1 is adding a large range of bestselling Glyde condoms and dental dams to its catalogue, which will be available to buy from mid-May. The wholesaler expects these additions to complement products such as the Gaia Biodegradable Vibrator and Svakom’s eco-friendly silicone toys as well as organic essential brands such as Sliquid and Yes, creating a comprehensive green portfolio for retailers and consumers to choose from.
“We’ve been working and making great progress on reducing our plastic output via our Loving Joy brand as this is something we care about deeply,” added Gonzalez. “We’ve also been trying to build our catalogue in a way that eco-friendly products feature more and more, so the addition of Glyde serves this purpose too. We don’t just want to capitalise on a trend, we want to offer an actual choice to people who aim to be more conscious about their consumer decisions. And what better place to start than a fair trade, organic, vegan-friendly condom – the most essential product of them all?”
