US pleasure products manufacturer Maia Toys has teamed up with Tokeativity, the Global Feminist Community for Active Cannabis Culture, which will allow proceeds from Maia Toys to benefit a number of nonprofits Tokeativity works with, including The Last Prisoner Project, NuLeaf, and Supernova Women.
“Maia got involved with Tokeativity through a whole network of connections,” said Zach Smith, brand ambassador for Maia Toys. “Referrals and outsider tips lead us to Tokeativity and when we found out that they worked alongside great cannabis-related charities as well as provided pro cannabis women with a safe place to practice all things cannabis—including opening up dialogue about cannabis and sex—we knew that it was a perfect fit to partner with them.”
Tokeativity was founded by Lisa Snyder and Samantha Montanaro in 2016 in Portland, Oregon. The company has been featured in Forbes, High Times, Rolling Stone, Condé Nast, Yahoo!, Leafly, Dope Magazine, and The Guardian. It is said to have a global network of 57,000 feminists who care deeply about cannabis normalisation and living an active lifestyle.
Smith said: “Maia approached Tokeativity from the start. It was a match made in heaven from the beginning, but at first we really didn’t know the best way to work with each other. After bouncing ideas off of each other for months, we finally came up with a solid plan that we were ready to put in place. We also wanted to find the right charity to donate to, and once Tokeativity recommended that we donate to LPP, then there were more logistical issues that needed to be faced. Overall this project took a while to come to fruition, but we are so happy with the feedback and how well it’s going.”
As part of the partnership, Maia Toys donates a portion of its proceeds from its Jessi 420 bullet vibrator to Tokeativity, which then makes donations for those unable to purchase a membership to Tokeativity. They then give a portion of Maia Toys’ donation to an organisation called the Last Prisoner Project. In return, Maia Toys places a sticker on the package of the Jessi 420 bullet and a pamphlet inside the packaging that tells customers a little bit about Tokeativity and The Last Prisoner Project.
Smith said Maia Toys benefits from the relationship by allowing the company to work within the cannabis industry and providing a pathway to give back. That combines with the 420 line of products, which features the Jessi 420 bullet, the Dazey Cannabis Leaf Dong in purple, and the Sativa 10-Function Remote Control Panty Vibrator in purple, the latter two of which are now available for pre-order.
“We see more and more crossover between the cannabis and sex industries, and we wanted to help do that,” Smith said. He added that Maia Toys is looking to expand the relationship by possibly designing a pleasure product specifically for Tokeativity.
“We are also looking to plan a few seminars in the future for their members talking about how cannabis and sex can go hand and hand,” Smith said.
