Lovense survey reveals what’s holding men back from prostate pleasure

Lovense recently shared findings from a survey looking at what’s really stopping men from trying prostate pleasure products, backed by analysis of over 10,000 posts and comments from men’s wellness communities online.

The findings suggest that the biggest barriers aren’t physical discomfort or hygiene concerns, but social and psychological factors. The most common issue is communication with a partner, with around 18.3% of respondents saying they don’t know how to bring it up. More than a third worry about how a partner might see them, and about one in four fear being misunderstood, with stigma around masculinity and identity.

Another clear takeaway is the education gap. Nearly 40% of respondents said better beginner education, clearer safety information and more open discussion would make them more confident.

Lovense has positioned its Edge 2 as a response to these insights with app-based partner control that allows each partner to participate remotely. This is designed to transform prostate play from a solitary secret into a shared experience, as results showed that partner involvement is simultaneously the greatest accelerator and the greatest barrier. “The data showed that the product isn’t the problem — it’s how people handle it with their partner,” said a Lovense spokesperson. “Edge 2‘s partner control feature was built to make that first conversation easier by giving both people a role.”
