New research from LELO reveals that the most popular time of day for British people to masturbate is first thing in the morning, with over one in four (28%) engaging in the act between 6:00-7:59 am. This is further supported by LELO’s own site traffic – which is evenly spread throughout the day, however frequency of purchase increases between 8am and 10am (shortly after the morning ‘peak’ in masturbation).
LELO’s in-house sexpert, Kate Moyle, explained: “It’s unlikely that parents of small children are going to be able to make time for an orgasm in the morning, however that might be the best time for those that aren’t on a tight schedule and want to start their day with an orgasm.”
She continued: “For men, testosterone levels peak in the morning, so for some that may be the time that they feel most sexually aroused. However, the social element of our lives is likely to be more influential – as humans, we can’t switch off our consciousness and there are many practical daily routines and elements that influence our lives and play a bigger part than pure biology.”
14% of respondents said they indulge occasionally when working from home. This number is highest amongst the 25–34-year-olds, with nearly 1 in 5 (19%) stopping for a comfort break.
33% of Gen Zs (18-24s) who get a spontaneous day off during the week will choose to self-pleasure while men are more inclined to masturbate after exercise than women, with 11% of men and only 5% of women feeling inspired by the extra endorphins.
Astonishingly, nearly one in ten (8%) of respondents have never engaged in daytime masturbation but would like to.
Kate Moyle added: “As orgasm is both physical and psychological, we need our mind on our side to be able to experience peak pleasure and so knowing our good conditions (eg when the house is quiet, we don’t have anywhere to be, once the kids are in bed, when our schedules align etc) can be really helpful to being able to give ourselves that time for pleasure.”
