Larry Garland, founder and CEO of US distributor Eldorado Trading Company, has tragically and suddenly passed away. Larry was a genuine industry legend, not just in the US but globally. And as well as being hugely respected, he was loved within the industry, as the many messages of condolences that have been posted on social media today have confirmed.
Although we cannot claim to have known him well, as our paths only crossed occasionally at industry trade shows, he will be remembered by us at ETO as a friendly, genuine, nice guy – a gentleman – who was hugely enthusiastic about the industry. Our thoughts are with his family, Eldorado colleagues, and industry friends at this very sad time.
In a statement issued today, Eldorado Trading Company said: “The Eldorado family is devastated by this news, but is rallying together to preserve his legacy. We are dedicated to continue to service our customers and business partners to the standard Larry has set for over 40 years.”
Garland is survived by his wife Wanda, son Preston and daughter Shauna. Details of a memorial will be released as they become available. The family asks that their privacy is respected during this difficult time but an email address has been established ([email protected]) for those who wish to leave their condolences.
In lieu of flowers, the Garland family is accepting donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Community Food Share and Planned Parenthood, three organisations that were close to Larry’s heart.
