Hot Octopuss focuses on sustainability with new appointment, travel changes, and packaging switch

Hot Octopuss has appointed April Lambert [pictured] as its new chief sales and partnerships officer. April will also become an equity partner, having already spent six years with the brand and building its global sales team.

April will be responsible for brand partnerships for Hot Octopuss and expanding the business, as well as growing the sustainability side of the brand.

Co-founder and COO Julia Margo commented: “April has a huge presence and voice in the industry and we feel very lucky and blessed to have her at Hot Octopuss. We’re really excited to see her progress in this new role.”

The firm has already made some major changes in the way it conducts business and its packaging. It has cut back the number of air freight shipments in favour of sea transportation and its sales team have reduced their air travel to further offset its carbon emissions. The sales team now only travels when it is absolutely essential for a retailer partner, giving more time and energy to individual stores during every trip.

April Lampert has been pioneering the changes, having always been passionate about the environment even before climate change and sustainability became trends. She combined her knowledge from an environmental law and policy degree with over a decade of experience in the sex toy industry to help Hot Octopuss switch to packaging that’s both premium and eco-friendly.

“This is a brand change I have been so passionate about over the years, it’s so important for the brand to be as sustainable as possible as 90% of all packaging ends up in landfills around the world,” April said. “We saw this as an opportunity to make our packaging even more eye-catching, sexy, and gorgeous with the objective of having customers love us just as much as Mother Earth does now.  Hot Octopuss’ new packaging is proof that going green doesn’t have to be aesthetically sacrificial. It feels good to know that we’re contributing to a better world one package and orgasm at a time”.

Julia Margo added: “We didn’t have to compromise quality to help save the planet. All parts of our packaging are made from recyclable materials, and each can be recycled to ensure that future generations will inherit a cleaner planet. We didn’t just stop at using recycled cardboard for our internal clamshells (which is more expensive than plastic) either. We also minimised the amount of plastic used in manufacturing our goods.”
