Lovehoney has unveiled Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson as the new face of its lingerie. The company began making its own lingerie a year ago and it says its in-house collections are the best-selling pieces on its site, and around a third of the firm’s £40m annual turnover now comes from lingerie.
Marnie Simpson is the first cast member of Geordie Shore to front her own lingerie collection and Lovehoney Lingerie designer Heather Mercer said the reality TV star was chosen as the new face of the brand because she is likeable, down-to-earth and has a ‘real figure’. She added: “Lovehoney Lingerie is all about making women of whatever size feel amazing. We thought Marnie was the perfect fit because she is a fun girl who has great body confidence.”
Marnie said she was thrilled to be modelling the autumn/winter Enchant Me collection – which has been inspired by Russian love stories, encapsulating the romance, passion and opulence of old Russia. She said: “I am really happy with my body at present and the lingerie is lush. It is great to wear and it makes me feel incredibly sexy.”
Marnie posed for the photo shoot five weeks after surgery to improve a breast uplift operation from two years ago. She said: “It has been a long wait but my boobs are perfect now. Not too big, not too small – what you might call Goldilocks breasts! I am pleased with my figure. I’m never going to be a catwalk waif but I don’t want to be one – I love my curves. I think my best feature is my legs – they are long and slender and whenever I put on weight it never goes on my thighs, which is a blessing.”
The Enchant Me collection includes a £32.99 basque in midnight blue and black, £24.99 babydolls in pink, plum, red and black satin, bra and knicker sets in black, red and plum, plus a £24.99 robe and lacy suspender belts. It has been designed for women of all shapes and sizes go from 6-24.
Before she was recruited, Marnie was already familiar with the Lovehoney name, reportedly having a few of the firm’s best sellers in her bedside cabinet: “Every girl has a few toys,” she said. “They are fun when you are in a relationship and fun when you are on your own, too!”
Marnie is back for the new series of MTV’s Geordie Shore starting on October 20th, which takes place during the summer on the Greek islands. “It was an absolute blast,” said Marnie. “It is the most explosive series we have done and there have been a few fireworks before!”
