The Awards Dinner takes place on the evening of the first day of the annual ETO Show. It’s a fabulous fun-filled occasion where far too much alcohol is consumed but it’s also got a serious, if not exactly sober, side – the ETO Awards have become the ultimate accolade for products, companies and individuals in the adult sector, as those fortunate to have won them previously will confirm.
We say this every year but it does bear repeating – the winners are decided not by us or a panel of our mates but by readers of the magazine. So if you are called to the stage to accept one of our coveted trophies then you should feel pretty proud of yourself, your staff and your company; because your customers and peers in the industry have taken time out of their busy schedule to tell us that they think you rock.
The ETO Awards are also the industry’s most inclusive, recognising excellence in every link of the supply chain, including products, brands, distributors, retailers and people. This year we have once again introduced new categories and updated the criteria of others to both enhance the scope of the awards and to reflect the constant evolution of the industry. One of our favourite new categories for 2014 is the Store Manager of the Year award. How fantastic would it be to win that? And not just from a ‘Boss, I think I deserve a pay rise’ point of view…
Other new categories include Best Fetish Products Distributor and Best Specialist Products Distributor. In truth, both of these are long overdue – there are so many companies that choose to specialise in one particular area, offering their customers excellent service and an unrivalled product range, but because they don’t have thousands of accounts they will never topple the industry’s big names in the catch-all distribution categories. This year, specialist suppliers of electrosex products, leather goods, BDSM items, books, footwear, aromas, supplements, condoms, lubes, cosmetics, magazines, DVDs etc, will be pleased to learn that they are not competing for nominations and votes with behemoths such as ABS Holdings and Scala Playhouse.

It would greatly help us if you could be as specific as possible when making nominations. For instance, in the Best Consumable category please do not put down ‘lube’.
