Erotica comes to Leeds

Erotica is coming to Leeds in October – but not in the guise of the UK’s most popular adult lifestyle show which is staged in London each year. Leeds Erotica Festival is an entirely different event. It will take place from 30th October – 2nd November and will be hosted at various venues across the city. It promises ‘a diverse range of cultural, charitable and educational events dealing with erotica in a serious, tasteful and intelligent manner, but with a strong element of fun and celebration.’

Organiser Amy Minns said: “The Leeds Erotica Festival will be a celebration of sexuality, sex and the beauty of the human body. We plan to use the arts to break down the stigmas associated with sex and erotica.”

Festival events will include art exhibitions, film, book readings, a programme of workshops from experts in nude photography, writing erotic literature and much more.

The highlight is predicted to be a Masquerade Ball on Halloween night, while Saturday night will see what is described as the biggest and most glamorous burlesque and cabaret night the north has ever seen.

“Leeds will see such an eclectic mix of events that it will appeal to everyone with an interest in culture and the arts,” added Amy. “We hope the Leeds Erotica Festival will grow each year and become one of the UK’s most popular events.”

The Festival is currently looking for artists and writers who would like to submit their work to be included in the festival art exhibition, popular art competition and short story writing competition.

A website (www.leedserotica.org.uk) is due to be launched to promote the event but for more information contact [email protected]
