EQOM ‘supergroup’ expands further with acquisition of Amorelie

Following last month’s announcement that the EQOM Group had acquired European retailers Christine le Duc and Kondomeriet, the consortium has now acquired Amorelie, one of the biggest online providers of erotic products in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Amorelie was founded in 2013 and employs around 150 people. Its expected turnover for this year is in excess of €62m, and it will increase the forecast turnover of EQOM Group to €220m for 2021. The group’s goal is to achieve a turnover of €500m by 2025 and become the global market leader.

Eric Idema, CEO of EDC Retail and chairman of EQOM Group, said of the acquisition: “It is a big and strong brand in German-speaking countries and one of the biggest brands in the EU. The company has a great image and is known for its female-friendly approach to erotic products towards a broad target group. Products they carry are colourful and stylish. The way in which the subject is discussed also has clear added value for us.”

For Amorelie, the acquisition offers growth opportunities in other European countries where it is not yet active. CEO Claire Midwood [pictured] commented: “We are more than excited to become part of the EQOM Group and build our future together with Eric Idema and his team. We have a shared vision of the importance and opportunities in the sexual wellness industry and are convinced that this collaboration will enable the group to reach more customers, in new countries, with new innovative products.”

Amorelie will continue to be run by its existing management.
