The Colt Metal 7.5 inch vibrator, manufactured by California Exotic Novelties, has seen a spike in popularity after being featured in the US version of The Office. The Colt vibe was seen in the episode broadcast on September 29th in the US, called The Incentive.
California Exotic Novelties is encouraging retailers to capitalise on the mainstream product placement by stocking the entire Colt Collection and by placing “As seen on TV” signs next to the range.
“Customers excitedly told us about the Colt Metal 7.5 inch vibrator being featured on The Office while we were at the eroFame show,” said Susan Colvin, CEO for California Exotic Novelties. “Everyone thought it was great product placement and got a kick out of it.”
The episode features an office ‘incentive’ that includes the Colt Metal 7.5 inch vibrator as a potential prize. During the episode the bemused employees reference ‘the vibrator’ several times. As a result, California Exotic Novelties launched their own ‘Office Incentive’ contest on Facebook and Twitter, giving the public a chance to win their own Colt Metal 7.5 inch vibrator.
Nichole Grossmann, Social Media Coordinator for California Exotic Novelties, said: “The contest was a quick response to the buzz surrounding the episode. We networked with The Office’s Facebook page and fans to create momentum for the entire line of Colt products. The response was great — it got a lot of people talking about Colt and CalExotics.”
