To celebrate the launch of its new website, lingerie distributor is offering ETO readers an exclusive discount code which will give them 10% of any order, regardless of size, until the end of September.
The new site offers over 3,000 lingerie and hosiery SKUs from 17 different brands and payment is accepted in three languages, as the distributor is attracting a growing number of customers from overseas. Alterego says the new site has a fresh look and feel, making it easy to navigate, and a live data feed: this allows customers to view stock holdings and even receive a ‘back in stock’ notification should a size sell out.
For online retailers, Alterego is offering data files that customers can use on their own e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Woo Commerce or Magento, which the distributor says will be a huge advantage to website builders and ensure easy site maintenance for the customer. Alterego is also introducing a free IT helpdesk feature, for dropshipping businesses or those with traditional ecommerce sites, should they have any technical difficulties.
“When Alterego began in 2007 it was an innovator in online wholesaling,” said Alterego operations director Gareth Laycock. “Back then, barely any lingerie manufacturers had websites, relying solely on sales reps, trade shows and telephone calls to acquire business. There were often large minimum order quantities to meet, and frequently orders had to be paid sometimes months in advance, before the lingerie was even manufactured. Alterego broke all of these old established methods and decided to offer high quality European manufactured lingerie on an exclusive basis, hold stock for next day delivery in its UK warehouse, have no minimum order quantities, and actively encourage the new retail concept of dropshipping – and all this using a website as its route to market. Many of our competitors scoffed at the ‘new boy’ but 13 years later all businesses, lingerie or otherwise, use websites to service their customer sales.”
