A fair COP from AITA

UK trade association AITA intends to introduce a Code of Practice for all its members, the adoption of which will allow it to better promote the adult industry to government, the mainstream media and the public.

The announcement was made at the trade body’s Annual General Meeting, which took place in London on 30th September, when the new committee for the forthcoming year was elected. Committee members Clive Gore (Scala) and Jasper Duncombe (Relish) chose to step down but their places were taken by three new members: Paul Botha of Models First, Jason Maskell of JCAZ and Claire Staniford of Excelsior Group. They join Chair Anna Span, Treasurer Ian Powell of Corollo and existing committee members Stuart Inglis of Adult World, Jason Dante of Erotica, Nick Fox of Axcess Merchant Services and Strictly Broadband’s Jerry Barnett.

At the AGM the committee provided an overview of its activities for the previous year and set out its plans for 2011. These include continuing to lobby the BBFC for a reduction in R18 fees, opening up dialogue with new regulatory body ATVOD, promoting more discussion via the AITA Facebook page and introducing the new Code of Practice.

The next AITA meeting will be at the association’s Christmas party, which takes place at 5.00pm on 15th December at the Match Bar, 37-38 Margaret Street London W1G 0JF. More information about AITA can be found at www.aita.co.uk
