Voluptasse nominated for national Mumpreneur award

Melissa MacFarlane, the MD of Voluptasse.co.uk who recently got a business boost from Lord Sugar when he tweeted about her, is up for a Mumpreneur Award this year.

The Blackburn-based mother to four young children (soon to be five) sells adult toys, lingerie, costumes and party accessories, both online and via a home party business. She also writes erotic fiction and product reviews on the Voluptasse blog, both of which have been published on other leading websites.

The business was launched in 2011 in addition to Melissa’s full-time job, as a way for her to eventually stay at home with her young children. She’s been nominated for an award at The Mumpreneur Awards 2012; an national award scheme for mums who run their own enterprise.

The Mumpreneur Awards 2012 are the UK’s first national business awards dedicated solely to mums in business. Now in its fourth year, the awards have been a platform for many mumpreneurs to enhance their business, and continue to grow even through this uncertain economic climate.

As well as being nominated in the Business Start up categories, Melissa is also in with a chance of winning The Inspirational Business Mum Award, which will be awarded to the mother who proves to be an inspiration to all women in business.

The event is on September the 30th at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Warwickshire, but it’s in August when Melissa will find out whether she’s made the finals.

The awards are hosted by Mumpreneur UK, a leading support network for mums in business, which provides online resources and support as well as an annual conference.
