Due to ill health the owners of Venus Smiling, Cwmbran’s only licensed sex shop, are selling the business. The store was licensed in April 2011 by business partners Sian and Mandy and it trades under the ‘for women, by women’ tagline though it has a broad customer base.
Offers in the region of £20,000 are invited for the business and this includes around £12,000 worth of stock (at cost price), all fixtures and fittings, the Venus Smiling website and domain name and a company-branded Vauxhall Meriva MPV.
The annual cost of the licence is £1,103 and Venus Smiling pays rent of £125 per week – terms of the lease are said to be very flexible. It pays no business rates due to its South Wales location, where the Welsh Assembly subsidises small businesses.
