On Wednesday the 9th of March, a sexy gaggle of several hundred porn stars, producers and mainstream celebrities alike converged on the For Your Eyes Only gentlemen’s club in east London for the second SHAFTAs (Soft and Hard Film and Television Awards).
Hosted by Linsey Dawn McKenzie in several beautiful dresses and Viv the Spiv in just one – very sharp – suit, the SHAFTAs nominees and 13 winners were announced by guest presenters including Bez of The Happy Mondays and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here fame, household-name DJ Tim Westwood aka The Big Dog and the Dirty Sanchez boys, soon to fly to Switzerland with their live stunts show.
On the pole-dancing stage a series of winners, all looking genuinely shocked and delighted to have been voted for by Television X viewers and porn fans, joined the hosts for presentations, photos and speeches that, sadly, didn’t always get heard due to technical issues with the radio mics.
With so much British adult entertainment talent present in one place, high jinx were almost guaranteed. Jordan’s ex Dane Bowers delivered, with both a bust-up with Television X presenter Billi Bhatti (ex Big Brother housemate, now club promoter and host of TVX’s What Billi Did Next) and by leaving clutching a vibrator from the TVX goodie bag in one hand and a porn star on the other, into a hail of Paparazzo.
With two stage shows by Sweet Harlots and evening nibbles, plus a well behaved autocue and well practiced presenters, it was a well-rounded night, especially compared to the rather more humble SHAFTAs held beside the Thames in a Greenwich pub last year. Credit to the organisers for getting both mainstream names and adult performers to be at the right places at the right times; quite an achievement.
Foreplay magazine editor Sarah Berry, hottie Aletta Ocean and glamour girls Verena Twigg, Gemma Massey and Krystal Webb were all in attendance, in a selection of stunning and well-engineered dresses. Big winners on the night included Angel Long (Best Anal Scene) and her production company PureXXX Films, which scored both Best Spoof Series and Best Director. Tanya Tate [pictured] won MILF of the Year and Syren Sexton won Best Overall Female Performer, both for the second year running. Megan Coxxx was crowned Best New Starlet and French fancy Angell Summers found herself clutching a Best International Performer trophy, while clearly very moved on stage.
With the ceremony concluding around 10pm, revellers moved to a nearby sports bar to dance the night away with Tim Westwood playing crowd pleasers into the early hours. Television X will be showing footage from the event on Sky 903, Virgin 490, BT Vision and online at TelevisionX.com.
