The third annual UK Adult Film and Television Awards (UKAFTA) will be staged this week and it is sure to pick up more mainstream coverage this year due to the attendance of a high profile nominee – Voluptua.
Voluptua is better known as Georgina Baillie, the girl at the centre of the Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross ‘outrage’ which so upset the Daily Mail and its readers in recent weeks. She has been nominated twice at this year’s awards for two of her adult films made by Salvation Films.
The organisers have reported that she said about the event: “It’s an honour to be nominated for such a great award – I am looking forward to going.”
Last year’s UKAFTAs also enjoyed a degree of mainstream media coverage following the nomination of Billie Piper for her role in Secret Diary of a Call Girl as Best Softcore Production.
The organisers have also revealed that Russell Brand was approached to host the awards but apparently his agent declined the offer because Brand was “better than that”. This year’s host is Kate Robbins and live music will be from the Harley Davidson band Route 66 and Nicole Jane, with DJ Brandon Block playing the after party.
The 2009 UKAFTAs is taking place at 490 Commercial Road, London, E1 0HX on Thursday November 20th 2008. Doors open at 6pm and the event closes at 2.30am.
