Shiri Zinn stars in Selling Sex

Luxury pleasure products designer Shiri Zinn has three examples of her work featured in the Selling Sex art exhibition which is scheduled to run until June at Nick Knight’s Mayfair studio and gallery, SHOWstudio Shop.

The exhibition features only female artists and examines their unique relationships to sex and the female nude. Artists involved also include: Alidra Alic, Cortney Andrews, Una Burke, Liz Cohen, Inge Jacobsen, Charlotte Kingsnorth, Aoi Kotsuhiroi, Atsuko Kudo, Jessica Lagunas, Sarah Lucas, Danielle Lurie, Malerie Marder, Marianne Maric, Kim McCarty, Lisa Z. Morgan, Ana Rajcevic, Ione Rucquoi, Stefanie Schneider, Christiana Soulou, Suzannah Sinclair, Vahge, Betony Vernon and Rebecca Wilson.

According to the organisers, “The exhibition was born out of a desire to extend the success of our acclaimed film series Object Fetish. But as our research developed and we looked more closely at the sexual politics implicit in this, we became less concerned with how objects become fetishized, and more interested in how sex or rather gender operates in Fine Art, Fashion, and Film. It is a well known fact that the majority of images we consume are created by men, and too often is feminism an easy target for commodification in the wider context of contemporary culture. So, we have decided to examine this ‘self-other’ relationship and curate an exhibition of female nudes, all created by women.”

The address of SHOWstudio Shop is 1 – 9 Bruton Place, London, W1J 6LT and the telephone number is 020 7399 4299. It is open from Monday to Friday, 11:00 – 18:00. For more information about Shiri Zinn and her designs visit www.shirizinn.com
