Scarlet Ladies survey highlights the importance of sex

The results of a recent Scarlet Ladies survey suggest that sex is not only a big part of women’s lives but that it becomes more so as they get older, with 80% of UK women identifying as sex positive, two out of three UK women saying that sexuality is a big part of who they are, and that they are almost 50% more likely to agree that sexuality is a critical part of their identity at 45 than at 25.

The aim of the Scarlet Ladies community is to destigmatise and normalise the conversation around female sexuality for the good of women everywhere, and it conducted its #TalkSexChangeLives survey of 555 women between July 15th and August 15th 2018.

Other highlights from the survey include: 85% of women agree that sex empowers them, regardless of whether they’re single, in a relationship, straight, gay, bisexual, or representing one of the other 11 sexualities identified in the survey; and 90% of women disagree with the statement, ‘I’m uncomfortable around people whose sexual preferences are different to mine’.

It wasn’t all good news though, as the survey indicated that one in three UK women said they could not talk freely with their partner(s) about sex, 50% of UK women are uncomfortable talking about masturbation, 40% of single women find sex uncomfortable (compared to 27% of all women), one in five UK women lacks confidence in her sexuality, and 15% of all women reported that sex does not make them happy.
