On Saturday October the 15th the fetish fans of London and beyond were guests at the 14th Annual International Rubber Awards, hosted by Club RUB on the HMS President 1918, moored opposite the OXO tower on the Thames. Open from 9pm to 4am, the event was an excuse for rubber lovers to party late into the night.
Unfortunately Bizarre magazine’s Alix Fox – who’d been scheduled to be a judge – wasn’t able to attend due to ill health, but top European domina Goddess Ira, the publishers of Scene magazine and other leading lights of the fetish scene were in attendance to cast an authoritative eye over the modelling hopefuls. 17 of whom came away with a statuette and other spot prizes for Best Full Rubber, Best Rubber Boy and Best Rubber Uniform, among many other categories.
After the awards, revellers were entertained by a range of stage shows or took the fresh air, promenading on the open deck to the clear entertainment of the river police. Also onboard, Nick Williams of DOM-estics ran a stall of floggers, carpet beaters and crops, plus rubber shorts and jockstraps from Latex 101. All while sporting a ThunderCats logo’d rubber kilt, also from Latex 101.
