It might be a long shot but Mary Portas is looking for independent retailers to take part in the new series of Mary Queen of Shops. A third series of the BBC2 programme has been commissioned and although Portas has previously focused on fashion specialists, the producers have recognised that the economic climate is proving tough for all retail sectors – apparently 100 shops are closing every day – and Mary will consider applications from any independent retailer.
Portas initially made her name by turning around the fortunes of Harvey Nichols, and as well as her successful TV series she has written several books, including Windows: The Art of Retail Display and How to Shop with Mary Queen of Shops.
