Liverpool TSO target porn pirates

Liverpool Trading Standards, assisted by Merseyside Police, have recovered hundreds of counterfeit DVDs, many containing hardcore pornography, after a raid last week in the Wavertree area of the city.

Two people were arrested for possession of the pirate DVDs in the operation which focused on alleged Chinese gangs who sell DVDs in bars and pubs on Wavertree High Street. Trading Standards officers also seized a car and a large sum of cash.

The operation was insitigated after complaints from pub licensees.
A Liverpool City Council spokesman said: “I was particularly disturbed to see that hardcore pornography that cannot even be sold in a licensed sex shop was being peddled round the streets.”

One suspect was bailed to allow further enquiries to be made and another has already been charged under the Copyright Designs and Patents Act.
