S Gold & Sons, one of the biggest wholesalers of adult 18-rated DVDs to the trade, was placed into administration at the end of July resulting in the loss of over 100 jobs.
David Gilbert and Martha Thompson, partners at BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, were appointed joint administrators. David Gilbert commented: “The business had already ceased trading prior to our appointment. Regrettably, following a review, the majority of the workforce were made redundant. We are now working with company directors to secure a sale of the assets.”
According to the firm’s last filed accounts, the business turned over £45m in 2006 and made a loss of more than £300,000.
