FSOG deal earns Lovehoney international award

Lovehoney’s awards cabinet must be getting pretty cramped and the firm will now have to make space for the Best International Deal award, which it picked up for the Fifty Shades of Grey Official Pleasure Collection, at the Insider International Trade Awards in Bristol on June 12th.

The citation said: “Bath-based Lovehoney has been a runaway success, almost doubling its turnover in the last two years, and its exclusive deal to tie down the Fifty Shades phenomenon shows a business with its finger on the pulse and ready to seize the moment.”

Lovehoney co-founder Neal Slateford said: “We were thrilled to win against some very stiff competition. Fifty Shades is the biggest sex brand in the world and it represents a huge opportunity for Lovehoney globally. We have really enjoyed working with E L James and the whole team behind Fifty Shades and cannot wait for the movie to come out.”

Lovehoney missed out on a second award – the Chase Paymentech Best Large Pure-play Etailer Award at the PayPal Etail Awards at Old Billingsgate, London – on the same night when Appliances Online emerged as the winner.

Lovehoney is a finalist in several categories at the ETO Awards on June 23th plus it is a Commended Winner at the Internet Retailing Awards on June 26th. It has been shortlisted alongside House of Fraser, John Lewis and Lakeland in the customer service category, and the outright winner will be announced at the ceremony at the Heron Tower in London.

Slateford added: “We are thrilled to already be a Commended Winner. What is so gratifying is that we are competing with the likes of John Lewis and House of Fraser. That shows just how far the whole sex toy industry has progressed in the last couple of years. We are very much part of the mainstream.”
