Fantasy by Cara Sutra range launched

Cara Sutra, the winner of ETO’s Best Erotic Journalist Award 2013, has now become a brand, with the launch of her own bondage and fetish products range – Fantasy by Cara Sutra. The first line in the new collection is the eight-piece Beginner’s Bondage Kit and it made its public debut at a lavish launch party last week at Canterbury adult store La Boudoir Boutique.

It was surrounded by other brands vying for market share – including Bettie Page, the official Fifty Shades of Grey range, Sex & Mischief and Pipedream’s Fetish Fantasy Series – and Cara told ETO how the project was conceived: “After the opening of the shop last year, [La Boudoir Boutique owners] Julian Holloway and Vic Bussey approached me about the possibility of developing and creating my own range, which would be a bondage-themed collection to appeal to both fetish and sex toy accessory worlds. Since Fifty Shades of Grey, bondage has found a new acceptance within the mainstream, so it seemed logical to lend both my name and expertise to the kit and bondage products in general. We wanted to avoid any links to the iconography of Fifty Shades as that’s well done elsewhere, and the book is quite controversial amongst some kink lifestylers, as a portrayal of BDSM. I’m a big believer in – and campaigner for – the idea that we’re all on the same spectrum and you shouldn’t pigeonhole people as vanilla or kinksters. A curiosity about bondage is all you really need to get started and this kit was designed to help people develop that interest, without having to dive-in at the deep end of going to a dungeon or fetish club.”

A full report from the launch event will be included in the April issue of ETO Magazine.
