Ann Summers Party Plan inspires new ITV drama series

Ann Summers has announced that ITV have commissioned a six part drama series which has been inspired by the early days of Ann Summers Party Plan, as described in Jacqueline Gold’s autobiography, Good Vibrations.

Set in the early 1980s, the series, titled Brief Encounters, will tell the story of four fictional female characters whose lives radically change as they embark on careers as Ann Summers Party Plan Ambassadors. The series is due to air on ITV in summer 2016 and will be produced by CPL Productions.

Ann Summers CEO, Jacqueline Gold [pictured], commented: “I am extremely excited and honoured that CPL and ITV have been inspired by the Ann Summers Party Plan journey. The start of Ann Summers Party Plan was one of the most exciting times of my career and I have many fond memories of the women who started on this journey with me.  In the early 1980s, these women were trailblazers and helped to create the opportunity for so many more women to run their own business. Since launching Party Plan, the model has given financial independence to in excess of 350,000 women, something I’m incredibly proud of.

“Having read the first script, I am so excited for the ITV viewers to follow these women on their journeys. There will be many twists and turns and I hope that the fictional stories of these women, which have been inspired by real life events, will show women everywhere that it’s never too late to take your career forward and find the confidence to be your own boss.”

Ann Summers Party Plan was launched by Jacqueline Gold in 1980. It offered women the opportunity to run their own business, achieve financial independence and provide a safe, fun environment for women to meet with their friends and shop for sexy lingerie and toys.
