Ann Summers 'O Team' stars in new Channel 4 documentary

Sex toys will once again be thrust into the nation’s faces next Thursday when Channel 4 airs a documentary called Sex Toy Stories. Last year Ann Summers conducted a search for ‘real women’ to help it design an innovative new range of sex toys. After an intensive selection process, eight women were chosen to become the retailer’s ‘O Team’ and they have spent the last 12 months assisting with the development of seven new products.

The film follows the progress of the project from the original design pitches right through to the launch of the final products, including a visit to the ETO Show last June. Viewers of the programme will get a glimpse behind the scenes of contemporary sex toy development, from deciding on the speed of the motor and choosing the colour of the silicone right through to travelling to the Far East to oversee the testing process. The finished range, designed to suit the needs of the individual members of the O Team, encompasses everything from discreet massagers to a rabbit with an expanding girth.

Jacqueline Gold, Ann Summers CEO, said: “The Sex Toy Story has been such an exciting project for Ann Summers and a unique journey for each of the women selected to be part of our panel. I am very proud of the results that the team have produced and can’t wait to hear what our customers think of the O Team range.”

The eight O Team members are: Kim Axford from Canvey Island, Margaret Holyland from Luton, Francesca Payton from Manchester, Chrissie Wunna from Wakefield, Kim Smith from Hemel Hempstead, Rebecca Reilly from Chester, Jill Demirel from Bromley and Emily Woodcock from London.

The hour long documentary, which is said to feature ‘emotional, thought-provoking and often hilarious scenes from the O Team women’, will be broadcast on Channel 4 at 10pm on Thursday 13th June. A preview clip can be seen here
