During the season finale of The Only Way is Essex on Wednesday night (9th November), viewers were treated to a raunchy ad from Ann Summers on ITV2; the firm’s first TV advert. Featuring ten ‘Real Women’ models, picked from public applications to front Ann Summers’ campaign, the 2:10 ad was well received on Twitter, where it got the business trending in the UK for a while. A few words of disagreement were recorded, with the lack of bigger girls and non-white models criticised, but the general consensus was the slickly produced advert was a hit.
It follows similarly suggestive TV campaigns by Durex Play, which includes vibrating cock rings amongst its featured range, and a series of TV ads by Love Honey. This year Erotica is also advertising on TV to broaden its consumer reach.
